The East Gardens are the only part of the Imperial Palace that can be freely visited all year round. Located on the former site of Edo Castle, they blend historic ruins, Japanese gardens, wide lawns, moats, and open views of Tokyo. This calm and spacious area is free to enter, making it a perfect spot for a nature and history break in the heart of the city.

You’ll find traditional landscapes, historic stone walls, and the remains of Edo Castle.
Best time to visit: Spring (cherry blossoms) and autumn (colorful foliage).

Opening hours: 9:00 AM – 4:00 PM (last entry at 3:30 PM). Closed on Mondays and Fridays.

Touristic?
Very peaceful for Tokyo, mostly visited by locals and well-informed tourists.
