Tsurunoyu Onsen is the oldest ryokan in the Nyūtō Onsen area. Parts of the building date back to the Edo period, with wooden architecture and a rustic atmosphere.

The site is especially known for its large mixed outdoor bath (konyoku) surrounded by nature and filled with characteristic milky hot spring water. Separate indoor baths for men and women are also available.

The experience is simple and traditional with very little modern infrastructure. The ryokan also offers overnight stays with meals in a very secluded setting.
