This traditional teahouse has operated for over 300 to 400 years along the old Tōkaidō road. Its signature drink is amazake, a naturally sweet non-alcoholic rice-based beverage made from kōji-malted rice. Alongside this, visitors can enjoy freshly pounded mochi grilled over charcoal with soy-sauce, black-sesame or soy-bean-powder toppings. The setting is rustic: earthen-floors, old timber beams, and a hearth in colder months. The place offers a memorable taste of old Japan and a restful stop for hikers or tour-visitors in Hakone.
Recommended time to stay: about 20-30 minutes.
