🏯 Kanazawa Castle – Edo-Era Legacy Directly adjacent to Kenroku-en, Kanazawa Castle was the seat of the Maeda clan for over 280 years during the Edo Period. Though much of the castle was lost to fire (the main keep was never rebuilt), several gates and structures like Ishikawa-mon Gate and Sanjikken Nagaya have been restored and designated as Important Cultural Properties. The site is particularly known for its imposing stone walls, showcasing the evolution of fortification techniques over centuries. Within the castle park, you’ll also find the Gyokusen-inmaru Garden, originally built in 1634 and beautifully reconstructed in 2015 — a peaceful stop for matcha or a seasonal evening illumination. 💴 Free to enter the park; small fee for castle interior areas. ✅ If you still have energy after Kenroku-en, the castle is absolutely worth exploring!
