Nawate-dōri is a small pedestrian shopping street running along the Metoba River in central Matsumoto. It is often called “Frog Street” because the river historically had many frogs and the theme became part of the street’s identity. You’ll see frog statues, frog souvenirs, and decorations in many shops. The street is lined with small food stands, snack shops, and souvenir stores.
