Tucked away in the mountains, Kosan-ji is a peaceful temple surrounded by tall cedars, mossy paths, and forest sounds. Sit on the veranda, take in the valley view, and feel like you’ve stepped back to the 13th century.

Founded by monk Myoe, it’s home to Japan’s oldest tea field and the famous Choju Jinbutsu Giga scrolls—often called Japan’s first manga. Quiet, historic, and full of charm.
