Nagoya Castle was built in 1612 by order of Tokugawa Ieyasu to secure the vital route between Kyoto and Edo (now Tokyo). It's especially famous for its golden shachihoko (mythical dolphin-like creatures) adorning the castle roof.

Although the main keep (tenshu) is currently closed for reconstruction (no interior access), the site remains a must-see thanks to.
