🚄 How to Get to Naoshima from Kyoto You have two main routes to reach Naoshima from Kyoto:

🔹 Option 1 – Via Uno Port (Faster & Standard Route) 🚅 Take the Tokaido Shinkansen from Kyoto to Okayama (about 1h10, covered by JR Pass) 🚆 From Okayama Station, take the JR Uno Line to Uno Station (~1h, covered by JR Pass) ⛴️ From Uno Port, take a ferry to Miyanoura Port (Naoshima) 💴 Cost: ¥290, not covered by JR Pass ⏱️ Ferry duration: ~20 minutes 🔹 Option 2 – Via Takamatsu (Scenic Route) 🚅 Take the Shinkansen to Okayama, then 🚆 Take the Seto-Ohashi Line across the Great Seto Bridge to Takamatsu Station ⛴️ Take a ferry from Takamatsu Port to Miyanoura Port (Naoshima) 💡 This route offers stunning views of the Inland Sea

🚢 Ferry Tips Most ferries arrive at Miyanoura Port, Naoshima’s main port Ferries operate about every 30–60 minutes 🎫 Not included in JR Pass, but only about ¥290 Bicycles can often be rented or taken aboard

🧳 On Arrival in Naoshima At Miyanoura Port, you’ll find: Coin lockers & luggage storage Bicycle rentals (electric or standard) Bus stops (small local buses run 1–2 times per hour)

🚌 Getting Around Naoshima 🚌 Local Buses connect the main areas Miyanoura ↔ Honmura (~10 min) Miyanoura ↔ Tsutsujiso (15 min) 💴 Each ride is ¥100

🛵 Electric bikes are the best way to explore at your own pace 🚶 Many attractions are also walkable from Honmura or Tsutsujiso

From Tsutsujiso, a free shuttle bus takes you to: Chichu Art Museum Lee Ufan Museum Benesse House
