Amanohashidate is a narrow 3.6 km sandbar lined with over 8,000 pine trees, connecting both shores of Miyazu Bay in northern Kyoto Prefecture. You can walk or cycle across it, surrounded by the sea on both sides — a peaceful and one-of-a-kind experience.

It’s also a spiritual place, with several shrines and temples along the path, and famous hilltop viewpoints accessible by chairlift or cable car.

💴 Price: Free to access the sandbar; viewpoints have a small entrance fee
👥 Touristy? Quiet — mostly visited by Japanese tourists and curious travelers
📍 Access: From Kyoto, about 2 hours by train via Fukuchiyama → get off at Amanohashidate Station

🚄 How to Get to Amanohashidate from Kyoto

  • Take the JR Hashidate Limited Express from Kyoto Station to Amanohashidate Station (~2 hrs)

  • 💰 One-way ticket: ~¥4,500

  • 🚲 Optional: Rent a bike just outside the station to explore the area (~¥500–1,000/day)

💡 You can also check for guided bus tours if you prefer a stress-free visit! (link here below)
