Naramachi is the historic merchant district south of Nara Park. Walking here feels very different from the temple areas, with narrow lanes, wooden machiya houses, small shops, cafés, and craft stores. I liked how calm it felt compared to the main sights, with locals still living and working in the neighborhood. It’s easy to explore on foot, without a fixed route, just wandering and stopping when something catches your eye.
