A monumental gate marking the western entrance to Mount Koya. Standing 25 meters tall, it impresses with its scale and the two fierce Nio guardian statues that protect the sacred site. It serves as a symbolic threshold and a starting (or ending) point for several hiking trails. The gate also offers sweeping views of the surrounding mountains, creating a solemn and spiritual atmosphere.

šŸ’“ Entrance fee: Free
šŸ‘„ Tourist level: Moderately touristy – visited by hikers, pilgrims, and travelers interested in spirituality.
