Miyajima Ropeway

Directions

The ropeway takes you up Mount Misen in two stages: first the Momijidani Line (standard gondola), then the Shishiiwa Line (suspended aerial tram). It’s a peaceful and scenic ride with sweeping views of the Seto Inland Sea, maple forests, and surrounding islands.

It’s the easiest — and most beautiful — way to reach Miyajima’s heights without a strenuous hike.

💴 Round-trip fare: ¥2,000 (adults) / ¥1,000 (children)
🕒 Hours: 9:00 AM – 4:30 PM (last departure) : open daily, weather permitting
👥 Touristy? Yes, but rarely overcrowded : usually smooth even in peak season
📍 Access: 15–20 min walk from Itsukushima Shrine via Momijidani Park, or take the free shuttle from the park

💡 Tip: Wear good shoes if you plan to continue hiking from Shishiiwa to the summit. In autumn 🍁, the ride is breathtaking with vibrant red maples all around.
