Collection of hot spring sites famous for their unique colors and bubbling pools. There are seven main “hells,” including Umi Jigoku (blue pond), Oniishibozu Jigoku (mud bubbles), and Chinoike Jigoku (red pond).

Touristy?: Yes, one of Beppu’s main attractions. Expect some crowds.
Access: Most hells are walkable around the Kannawa area (about 10–15 minutes between them). The last two, Chinoike Jigoku and Tatsumaki Jigoku, are about 2 km away—reachable in 5 minutes by Kamenoi Bus from Kannawa (bound for Shibaseki).
