Yohashira Shrine is a Shinto shrine located in the center of Matsumoto, just beside Nawate Street and close to Nakamachi Street. The shrine is dedicated to four Shinto deities associated with good fortune and protection. It is small but very pleasant to visit while exploring downtown Matsumoto. I liked stopping here because the entrance opens directly from the lively shopping area, yet the courtyard feels calm and quiet. In autumn the trees inside the shrine grounds turn bright colors, which makes it a particularly nice seasonal stop.
