One of the few buildings left partially standing after the atomic bombing on August 6, 1945, the Genbaku Dome is now a UNESCO World Heritage Site and an international symbol of peace, remembrance, and the hope for a nuclear-free world.

The structure has been preserved exactly as it was after the blast and sits at the heart of Hiroshima Peace Memorial Park.

💴 Admission: Free (open-air site, no entry inside)
👥 Touristy? Yes — a powerful and essential stop, treated with deep respect by visitors
📍 Access: Just a few minutes on foot from Genbaku Dome-mae Station (tram)

💡 Visit early in the morning or late in the day for a quieter experience. The night lighting gives the site an even more striking and reflective atmosphere.
