Kayabuki no Sato is a traditional village of about 40 thatched-roof houses, tucked in a valley surrounded by mountains. It’s one of the few places in Japan where these historic homes are still inhabited and carefully preserved.

The atmosphere is peaceful and timeless, especially in the early morning or late afternoon.

You can wander freely through the narrow lanes, visit a small museum, or even stay overnight in a local inn.

💴 Admission: Free to walk around; some houses charge a small fee (~¥300)
👥 Touristy? Quiet — mainly Japanese visitors and photographers
📍 Access: About 1.5–2 hours by bus or car from Kyoto

💡 Tip: Beautiful in winter under the snow, and in autumn when the maples turn red 🍁.
