Kamishichiken is a small, quiet neighborhood near Kitano Tenmangū Shrine. It’s the oldest hanamachi in Kyoto, with wooden teahouses, narrow streets, and a calm atmosphere compared to Gion. You can sometimes see geiko or maiko walking to appointments in the evening, but the area stays discreet and local. It’s a nice place to stroll after visiting Kitano Tenmangū or Hirano Shrine.

Price: Free access
Touristy?: No, calm, mostly locals and a few visitors
