Located in the historic tea town of Uji, Taiho-an is a traditional tea house where visitors can experience an authentic Japanese tea ceremony using locally produced Uji matcha, considered some of the best green tea in Japan.

It’s a quiet, elegant space surrounded by a small garden, ideal for those who want a peaceful introduction to the world of Japanese tea culture.

Price: Around ¥500–¥700 per person (no reservation required, but recommended during busy seasons)

Tourist level: Relatively calm, popular among tea lovers and culture enthusiasts, but not crowded.

Tip: Combine it with a visit to Byōdō-in Temple nearby or a walk along the Uji River for a perfect cultural half-day in Uji.
