An iconic restaurant located at the entrance of Nara Park, founded in 1959, and renowned for its specialty: kamameshi—rice cooked over an open flame in a small metal pot. Each order is prepared fresh on a live fire. The most famous dish is the “Nara Nanashu Kamameshi”, featuring rice topped with seven ingredients like shrimp, crab, conger eel, chicken, shiitake mushrooms, and more. Meals are served with red miso soup and pickles in a traditional, wheelchair-accessible, non-smoking setting with attentive service.

Prices
– Individual kamameshi: ~¥1,200–¥1,800 (depending on toppings, e.g. Nara Nanashu)
– Set menu (kamameshi + side dish + fruit): ~¥1,500–¥2,000

Touristy? Very touristy. Expect frequent wait times (up to 1 hour at lunch). Open lunch only, closed Tuesdays.
