Traditional neighborhood in Tokyo’s Katsushika ward, known for its nostalgic Showa-era atmosphere, old-fashioned shops, and strong connection to the beloved film character Tora-san from the Otoko wa Tsurai yo series. The heart of the area is Taishakuten-sando, a lively shopping street leading to Shibamata Taishakuten Temple, famous for its exquisitely carved wooden reliefs. The neighborhood also features the Tora-san Museum, artisanal Japanese sweet shops, and boat rides across the Edogawa River.

Price: Free (temple and shopping street). Tora-san Museum: around 500 ¥
Touristy? : Not very touristy internationally, but well-loved by Tokyo locals for its retro charm.
