A pioneer in kakinoha-zushi (pressed sushi wrapped in persimmon leaves), this long-standing institution was founded in 1903 and sits just outside Kintetsu Nara Station, at the entrance to the Higashimuki shopping street. You can dine in with set meals like the “Osushi à la carte” (kakinoha-zushi with soup and small sides), or purchase assorted boxes to take away—featuring toppings like salmon, mackerel, or sea bream. The setting is traditional and peaceful, with a small Kakinoha Chaya space for light snacks and drinks between visits.

Prices
– Box of kakinoha-zushi (6 pieces): ~¥1,220
– “Osushi à la carte” set (sushi + soup + sides): ~¥1,540
Budget: ¥1,000–¥2,000 per person

Touristy? Moderately touristy. Popular with both downtown visitors and locals. Expect a short wait at lunchtime. Friendly atmosphere and highly professional service.
