Directions

This experience takes place at Tomita Dye Workshop, a family-run studio with over 130 years of history in traditional Japanese dyeing. You will create your own silk scarf using Edo Sarasa techniques, guided by a professional artisan.

The process involves applying dye through stencils layer by layer, requiring precision and patience. You first practice the technique, then create your own design by choosing a pattern and colors. Each scarf is handmade and unique.

After the workshop, you can visit the historic atelier, which holds one of the largest collections of dyeing stencils in Japan. The finished scarf is typically completed by artisans (steamed, washed, dried) and shipped to your hotel or home within a few days.
