Guatemala City, also known as Guate, is the capital and largest city of Guatemala. It is most likely where you would be flying in/out of. I have heard some not so great stories about this city so I actually steered away from visiting it. I took the a shared shuttle bus from the airport direct to Antigua.

In general, capital cities are always a bit dangerous. There is some known gang activity in Guate so I would recommend to skip it to be safe.
