The train trip from Ella to Kandy is often hailed as one of the most beautiful train journeys in the world. Lasting about seven hours, this scenic ride takes passengers through lush tea plantations, mountains, waterfalls, and charming villages. There are a few ways you can take this train journey. There is the cheapest and slowest option (I'm talking like $1.40 cheap) and there is also more expensive and faster trains.

I took the cheapest option and it was completely fine (and gorgeous). The only issue we had was some mechanical delays so our journey lasted like 12 hours. But hey, thats travel. I was told you need to book ahead but I went to the train station the day before and bought my tickets with no issues.
