Vinicunca, also known as Rainbow Mountain, is a colorful mountain located in the Andes of Peru. You can go yourself or book a tour from Cusco. The tours include transport and food so I found it to be worth it.

There are many edited pictures of rainbow mountain which make the colors very vibrant. In reality, the colors are more muted but still very beautiful and unique. Due to high mineral content, the mountain has a mix of yellow, red, green, and pink.

This is a VERY popular day trip so it can get really busy with large crowds on the mountain. You have to walk a fair bit from the parking lot to the viewpoint but once you are there you can find a spot higher up with less people.

After rainbow mountain, don't miss Red Valley!! You can walk there and for some reason so many people miss this. It's gorgeous and empty!!
