Kartlis Deda, also known as Mother of Georgia, is a monumental statue located in Tbilisi, Georgia. Standing at 20 meters tall, the statue depicts a woman in Georgian national dress holding a bowl of wine in one hand to welcome friends and a sword in the other for enemies. Designed by sculptor Elguja Amashukeli, the statue symbolizes the national character of Georgia and its history of hospitality and defense. Originally erected in 1958, the statue was later replaced with a new version in 1997.
