This scenic walk follows a section of the famous Kepler Track, connecting Shallow Bay Hut to the Rainbow Reach car park in Fiordland National Park.

The trail winds through beautiful mountain beech forest, with peaceful stretches along the river and stunning natural scenery throughout. Parts of this area were used as filming locations for The Lord of the Rings, adding a special touch for movie fans.

If done as an out and back walk, the total distance is approximately 12 km, making it a rewarding half day hike immersed in Fiordland’s tranquil landscapes.
