Tokyo, Japan
Tokyo is a fantastic destination year-round, with each season offering a unique atmosphere and experiences.
đ¸ Spring (MarchâMay): One of the most popular times to visit thanks to cherry blossom season. Expect mild weather, beautiful parks, and vibrant festivals. Day trips to Kamakura, Hakone, and Kawagoe are especially scenic.
âď¸ Summer (JuneâAugust): June brings the rainy season, while July and August can be hot and humid. Summer also means fireworks festivals, lively matsuri, and beach trips to Enoshima and the Izu Peninsula. Carry water, dress lightly, and plan outdoor activities for the morning or evening.
đ Autumn (SeptemberâNovember): Cooler temperatures and stunning fall foliage make autumn an excellent time to explore. Gardens, temples, and mountain areas like Okutama, Mount Takao, and Hakone are especially beautiful.
âď¸ Winter (DecemberâFebruary): Winters are generally dry and sunny with fewer crowds. Clear skies provide excellent views of Mount Fuji, and seasonal illuminations transform the city after dark.
Travel Tip: For the best combination of comfortable weather and memorable scenery, visit in late March to early April for cherry blossoms, or in late October through November for autumn colors.
Try to avoid Japan's busiest travel periods, including Golden Week (late April to early May), Obon (mid-August), and the New Year holidays, when trains, attractions, and accommodations fill up quickly.
If you're visiting "beyond" Tokyo, remember that destinations such as Hakone, Kamakura, Kawagoe, and Okutama can have slightly cooler temperatures than central Tokyo, especially in the mountains.
