Yamanashi & Nagano, Japan

Bordered by the Japanese Alps and home to some of Japan's most spectacular scenery, Yamanashi and Nagano offer incredible experiences year-round. From mountain adventures to wine tasting and hot spring escapes, each season has its own charm.

🌸 Spring (March–May): Cherry blossoms, fresh mountain air, and clear views of Mount Fuji make spring a fantastic time to visit. Late April and May are especially beautiful around Lake Kawaguchi, while alpine areas in Nagano bloom later due to higher elevations.

☀️ Summer (June–August): Summer is ideal for hiking and escaping the heat. Popular destinations like Kamikōchi and the Japanese Alps offer cooler temperatures than Tokyo. July and August are also prime months for climbing Mount Fuji.

🍁 Autumn (September–November): Autumn brings vibrant foliage, comfortable temperatures, and harvest season in Yamanashi's wine country. Scenic spots around the Fuji Five Lakes, Matsumoto, and Kamikōchi are especially stunning.

❄️ Winter (December–February): Winter is perfect for snow sports, hot springs, and some of the clearest views of Mount Fuji. Nagano's ski resorts attract visitors from around the world, while onsen towns offer cozy retreats after a day outdoors.

Travel Tip: The best times to visit are late April through May and October through early November, when the weather is pleasant and the scenery is at its peak.

If you're hoping to see Mount Fuji, winter often offers the clearest skies. For hiking in the Japanese Alps, plan your visit between July and October, as some mountain roads and trails close during the colder months.

Remember that temperatures can vary significantly depending on elevation, so pack layers even during summer visits.
