Bring your Suica or PASMO

IC cards work throughout most of the region

Suica and PASMO cards can be used on JR trains and many local buses throughout Western Tokyo and parts of Yamanashi, making travel much easier. If you are arriving from Tokyo, simply bring the same IC card you use in the city.

While IC cards are widely accepted for transportation, it is still a good idea to carry some cash. Smaller shops, restaurants, and certain rural bus routes may not accept credit cards or IC payments.

I personally recommend keeping both an IC card and a small amount of cash on hand when exploring the mountains and countryside.
