This was one of my favourite photos from Vietnam, I just love how the lanterns frame the photo & the short but sweet moment with my little boy.
Now normally I don’t love it when you need to pay to take a photo, but these poor shop owners deal with plenty of people coming to their store for a photo and then not buying anything. So, they charge a small fee to tourists who want to take a photo with the lanterns.
You can choose to purchase a lantern (and then take a photo without the photo fee) however, our suitcase space was VERY limited so we decided not to add to our weight.
Here's what to know:
You’ll find these lantern stalls in the Ancient Town in Hoi An
It’ll cost you 10,000 VND for a photo (0.65 AUD)
Have your camera settings ready to go… you don’t want to hold up the queue
Be respectful of the lanterns, they are a part of someones store
Bonus tip: The lantern stalls are located in the Night Market and there is a lot of Vietnamese street food to try!
