Puits des Anglais is easy to overlook, but this small stone pool by the roadside has a long story. Dug into volcanic rock near the coast, it was once used by passing ships (including the English, hence the name) as a source of freshwater. The pool still fills naturally today, shaded by banyan trees and framed by old stonework.

There’s a picnic area nearby, and the walk from the road is short and flat. Locals sometimes swim here when it’s full, but it’s really more of a historical curiosity than a proper swimming spot. The setting is peaceful, especially in the early morning when the light filters through the trees.

👉 Walk down to the lower lava platform for a view of the waves crashing on the coast. It’s usually empty, and it’s a great photo spot.
