Camping Ti Piton is a rustic, high-altitude campsite deep in Cirque de Mafate — ideal for trekkers who want to go fully back-to-basics and sleep in nature. Located between Îlet des Orangers and Cayenne, it’s accessible only by foot and offers incredible views, total silence, and an unforgettable night sky.

What to expect:

• Flat, grassy pitches for tents

• Some pre-pitched tents and gear rentals available with advance booking

• Basic toilet and cold-water shower facilities

• Communal shelter or kitchen hut (very basic, not staffed)

• No electricity, no Wi-Fi, no shop

You’ll need to carry all food, water, and gear unless you’ve arranged a package or linked it with a nearby gîte. The reward? A night spent high above the cirque, in pure silence, with 360° views of Réunion’s most rugged interior.

👉 Local tip: Even in the dry season, it gets cold at night — bring a proper sleeping bag and layers. And pack out everything you bring in — waste collection is not possible.
