Open Market of Chaudron

Directions

Marché Forain du Chaudron in Saint-Denis is one of the biggest and most energetic markets on the island, packed with stalls selling everything from Creole street food and tropical fruit to clothing, electronics, plants, and cheap household goods. It’s messy, crowded, and real . You’re in the middle of everyday Réunion.

What to expect:

  • Fresh produce, meats, spices, flowers, and herbal remedies

  • Endless samoussas, bonbons piments, juice stands, and Creole dishes

  • Market clothes, sarongs, tech accessories, baskets, and shoes

  • Local music, background noise, people shouting over prices

  • Spread out and partially covered, with areas for food, clothes, and crafts

This isn’t a cute market. It’s a chaotic, local shopping hub. If you want to see how people live, eat, and buy on the island, this is it.

👉 Leave valuables behind, bring small cash, and go early before the heat and crowds peak around 10:00.
