Perched along the untamed coastline of Cap Chameaux, Sauvage delivers one of the most atmospheric dining experiences on La Réunion’s east coast. With volcanic cliffs, crashing waves, and elegant Creole-fusion cuisine, this restaurant is a destination in its own right — perfect for slow-travel foodies, sunset diners, and cocktail lovers.

The setting is simple but stunning: polished wood tables, open-air seating, and an uninterrupted view of the sea. The vibe is elevated yet welcoming — it’s the kind of place where you can sip a piña colada in flip-flops and still feel like you’re treating yourself.

The menu reflects the island’s bounty and creativity:

  • Tataki de thon with sesame crust, papaya-carrot salad & passionfruit coulis

  • Magret de canard rôti with butternut in multiple textures

  • Zourites grillées (grilled octopus) with lobster bisque and fresh gnocchi (evenings only)

  • Gaspacho pastèque-tomate with burrata and apple-cucumber tartare (vegetarian)

  • And the now-iconic “La Sauvageonne” salad with river prawns and herbed quinoa (lunch only)

Don’t skip the Tapasserie menu — perfect for sharing or snacking over drinks. Favorites include:

  • Baby calamari in persillade

  • House-made fish & chips

  • Creamy houmous with crunchy veg and focaccia

  • Gyozas with peanut-chili sauce

  • And the Creole platter with samoussas, bouchons, and stuffed peppers

And yes — this is one of the best spots on the island for a piña colada. Made fresh with coconut and local rum, it’s the house signature.

👉 Pro Tip: Reserve ahead for terrace seating, especially on weekends. Come early for light and slow drinks before dinner.
👉 Hidden Gem: Check if there’s a daily catch special — when they have it, the “retour de pêche” with lemon risotto is unforgettable.
