Parking Foc-Foc is a lesser-known spot just off the Route du Volcan, used mostly by locals and experienced hikers. It's not a tourist attraction on its own, but if you're planning alternative hikes around Piton de la Fournaise, this is a good access point.
From here, you can:
Access longer back routes like Sentier du Tremblet
Use it as an alternate way to approach Foc-Foc crater (long, advanced loop)
Park if Pas de Bellecombe is full during peak season
Take a break in silence — it’s usually empty, with a view over the high plain and cliffs
There are no facilities — no toilets, no water, no trail signs — just a rough parking area with space for about 10–12 cars. The surrounding terrain is quiet, wind-swept, and beautiful in that desolate volcanic way.
👉 Local tip: This is not the main starting point for the standard Dolomieu hike — it’s better for experienced hikers or those looking to avoid crowds. No rental car should go beyond here unless the road is confirmed dry and passable.
