Jardin d’Eden is a quiet botanical garden tucked between the beach and the lagoon hotels — a good place to cool off, slow down, and walk through something greener than sand. It’s not huge, but it’s well laid out and rich in native and tropical plants, medicinal trees, spice shrubs, and shaded corners where the air smells of wet leaves and ginger.

What makes it worth the stop:

  • Easy walking paths through more than 700 plant species

  • Signage in French (some English) with botanical and cultural notes

  • Bamboo groves, banyan trees, orchids, and aromatic herbs

  • Good birdwatching if you go early — you might spot weavers or white-eyes

  • Shaded benches, calm vibe — a proper breather from beach crowds

It’s located right behind the Hermitage lagoon, just a few minutes inland. Not flashy, but well kept. You’ll learn more about Réunion’s plants here in an hour than from any tourist brochure.

👉 Local tip: Bring mosquito repellent — especially after rain or late in the day. It’s lush for a reason.
