A National Historic Landmark, the Stonewall Monument memorialises the Stonewall Riots, which occurred in 1969 when police raided the Stonewall Inn, a gay bar, and the patrons & other citizens decided to fight back, resulting in 5 days of riots. The Stonewall Riots were a watershed moment in LGBTQIA+ history in the United States.
