The South Royal Gorge Court null was a legal battle between two railroads, the Santa Fe and the Rio Grande, over who had the right to build tracks through the Royal Gorge in Colorado. The conflict, known as the Royal Gorge War, involved construction crews, armed groups, and even hired gunfighters like Bat Masterson and Doc Holliday. After a series of court rulings and tense standoffs, the two companies eventually settled out of court with the "Treaty of Boston" in 1880, which gave the Rio Grande back its railroad. This historic event shaped the future of rail travel through the scenic Royal Gorge.
