The Southernmost Point buoy is one of those classic, quick stops you have to make in Key West. Because it’s iconic, there’s almost always a line, and most people end up waiting just to get that one shot with the buoy.

If you want smaller crowds and better light, aim for early morning.

There’s no admission fee, but parking near the buoy is very limited, and it sits in a quiet residential neighborhood. That means walking, biking, or using a ride service is honestly the easiest and least stressful way to get there.

If you’re hoping for a photo with just you in it, here’s a tip: ask someone else in line to take your picture, or jump into a small organized photo rotation — locals often call it a “photo turn.” That way everyone gets a chance without crowding the buoy.

It’s a quick stop, but it’s classic Key West.
