King’s Landing is one of those can’t-miss paddling spots in Florida — especially if you love crystal-clear spring water, jungle-like scenery, and a vibe that feels more remote than it really is. It’s a spring-fed launch point on the Wekiva River, and it’s beginner-friendly while still being great for more experienced kayakers.

If you’re doing it right: launch from King’s Landing, hang a right into the Emerald Cut, and take your time. The water here is glassy and green, lined with overhanging trees and old-growth cypress. It’s peaceful, photogenic, and feels like paddling through a hidden Florida paradise.

A few more tips from me:

• Reservations are required on weekends and holidays — they often sell out

• Call ahead or check social — after heavy rain, the water can turn tea-colored (tannins), so if you want to make sure you have the best water color call ahead or go in the dry season

• Emerald Cut is an out-and-back route, so you can take it slow and enjoy the views without worrying about shuttles

• Weekday mornings are the most peaceful if you’re aiming for a more quiet, scenic experience.
