This is the dedicated whale watching centre along the Great Australian Bight and the best place to see Southern Right Whales during the season. This was closed when I passed through as its seasonal but it’s a well-known stop and could be worth a visit if its open when you pass through (think its usually around $16 for an adult but this may vary)
The centre has purpose-built viewing platforms overlooking the cliffs and is designed specifically for whale watching rather than general sightseeing. If spotting whales is high on your list, this is the stop to plan for — the standard Bunda Cliffs and roadside lookouts don’t offer the same experience.
Good to know:
🐋 Whale season is roughly May–October
💰 Entry fee applies
🚗 Access via a sealed road off the highway
🚻 Facilities available when open
This is very much a timing-dependent stop. If it’s open and you’re travelling in season, it’s worth considering. If not, Bunda Cliffs alone still gives you a great sense of the coastline.
Note: photos aren't my own as I did not visit.
