Winnats Pass is without a doubt one of the most spectacular sights in the Peak District National Park — a dramatic limestone gorge carved through green hills, where winding roads and towering cliffs make for unforgettable views.
We visited in early September, and the scenery was absolutely stunning — rolling hills glowing in late-summer light, sheep grazing along the slopes, and that iconic road snaking through the pass. Whether you’re walking or driving, this spot never fails to impress.
It’s also very easy to reach: from Hope Train Station, you can hop on a short bus ride (or take a scenic walk if you’re up for it), and if you’re driving, there’s parking available nearby in Castleton. From there, it’s just a short uphill walk to some of the best viewpoints.
💡 Tip: Visit around golden hour or just before sunset for the most magical light — the way the sun hits the cliffs makes the whole valley glow.
A must-see for any trip to the Peak District, Winnats Pass is the kind of place that leaves you speechless every single time.
