The Conwy City Walls are one of the best-preserved examples of medieval fortifications in the UK, and walking along them feels like stepping back in time. I loved tracing the walls’ circuit, passing towers and battlements, and pausing at viewpoints to admire the Conwy Castle, the River Conwy, and the quaint streets of the town below. The walls give you a real sense of history and scale — it’s easy to imagine the medieval guards keeping watch over the town centuries ago.

Practical tips: Visiting the walls is free, and they’re fully accessible from multiple points in the town. Wear comfortable shoes, as the stone paths can be uneven in places. Pair your walk with stops at Conwy Castle, the suspension bridge, or Dylan’s Conwy for a full day of history, scenery, and local flavour. Sunrise or sunset visits offer particularly stunning light for photos.
