On your way down from Mam Tor and the Great Ridge toward Edale, you’ll pass through a small scenic cattle gate that opens onto rolling farmland dotted with cows and sheep. It’s part of the public right of way, and while it’s easy to overlook, this quiet stretch of the trail is one of the most scenic and peaceful spots in the area.

At golden hour, the surrounding hills — especially Grindslow Knoll — glow beautifully in the evening light, and the soft sounds of the countryside make it a perfect place to pause and take in the view.

💡 Tip: Take your time on this section of the walk — it’s one of the best areas to experience the tranquil charm of the Peak District away from the crowds on Mam Tor’s summit.
