Why we love it: The Llandudno Cable Car is not only the longest cable car system in Britain, but it’s also one of the best ways to experience breathtaking views of the town, the coastline, and the Menai Strait. Whether you’re a photographer, nature lover, or just after a fun ride, it’s a must-do while in Llandudno.
What to expect:
Route: The cable cars run from the Lower Promenade station up to the summit of the Great Orme, offering panoramic views along the way.
Views: Stunning vistas of Llandudno Bay, the town’s Victorian architecture, the Irish Sea, and, on a clear day, Snowdonia and Anglesey in the distance.
Experience: Each cabin is enclosed and comfortable, making it suitable for all ages. You can hop off at the top for hikes, photography, or to visit the Great Orme’s summit café and viewpoints.
💡 Tips:
Try to go late afternoon for sunset—it’s magical as the town and coastline glow in the warm light.
Combine with a walk along the summit trails or a visit to the Great Orme Tramway for a full day of exploration.
Tickets can be purchased for one-way or return trips (when we visited, they were only accepting cash payment so I highly recommend keeping some cash with you).
📍 Location: Upper Promenade, Llandudno, Conwy, North Wales
