Pistyll Rhaeadr is one of Wales’ most impressive waterfalls, plunging 73 metres down a dramatic cliffside into a tranquil pool below. I loved visiting because it feels wild and unspoiled, surrounded by lush greenery and the gentle sounds of cascading water — a perfect spot for a short nature escape or photography session.
The walk from the car park to the waterfall is easy and suitable for all ages, making it accessible for families and casual walkers alike. Even on busy days, the area manages to feel peaceful thanks to the expansive natural surroundings.
Parking: On-site car park available for £5 a day.
Tip: Wear sturdy shoes — the path can be slippery near the falls. Bring a rain jacket or waterproofs, as the spray from the waterfall can be surprising. Morning visits offer softer light for photos and a quieter atmosphere.
