Why Elba’s beaches can feel completely different from one another

Elba has sandy beaches, white pebble bays, rocky coves and dark mineral-rich coastlines. The right beach therefore depends on what you are looking for.
Sandy beaches are convenient for families, while pebble and rocky beaches often offer especially clear water for swimming and snorkelling. Some smaller bays can only be reached on foot.
Check the wind direction before deciding where to go. Conditions can vary considerably between the northern and southern sides of the island.
Travelistas tip: Pack beach shoes. They make entering the water much more comfortable at pebble and rocky beaches.
