Tomb of Tutankhamun

👑 Hidden within the Valley of the Kings, the Tomb of Tutankhamun is one of the most famous archaeological discoveries in history.

Unlike many other royal tombs, it is smaller and more modestly decorated, but its importance is unmatched. It was discovered in 1922 by Howard Carter, largely intact, revealing an extraordinary collection of treasures that transformed our understanding of Ancient Egypt and the New Kingdom period.

Today, most of the famous artifacts, including the golden mask of Tutankhamun, are displayed in museums in Cairo. Visitors come here not for the treasures, but for the rare opportunity to stand inside the burial chamber of Egypt’s most iconic pharaoh.

⏱️ Recommended Visit Time: 15–20 minutes
🎟️ Entry fee: Separate ticket required (in addition to Valley of the Kings pass).
📸 Details to notice: Simple burial chamber layout and the historical significance of the site rather than decoration.

💡 Traveller Addicted Tip: If you’re looking for the most impressive artwork, other tombs in the valley are more spectacular. However, few places in Egypt can match the historical significance of Tutankhamun’s final resting place.

⚠️ Good to know: The mummy is not always visible during visits, and the original treasures are no longer displayed here.
