Rua Direita is one of the most popular spots in Óbidos, Portugal. The main thoroughfare runs from Porta da Vila (the main gate) to the Castle and is filled with shops, cafes, and restaurants. It's especially lively in the mornings and evenings when both locals and tourists are out and about. During late afternoons, however, the pace slows down a bit, allowing for more peaceful shopping and sampling of Ginjinha, the traditional Portuguese liqueur made from sour cherries. Rua Direita is also a great place to take in Lisbon's unique culture as buskers line the streets and offer glimpses into the past with performances that bring the Medieval history of Óbidos to life.
